ST&G`s Marvellous Great British Place Names Wall Map

A wall map of Great Britain as you have never seen it before! Instead of the familiar place names, the map (size 59 x 84 cm /23″ x 33″ approx) presents their translations, so you will find plenty of Bottoms: Bushy Bottom, Great Bottom, Long Bottom, Fairmile Bottom, Breaky Bottom, Rough Grey Bottom, Burnt Bottom, Middleton Bottom, Charity Bottom, Puddington Bottom, Snail’™s Bottom, Jolly’™s Bottom, etc, etc, etc – not surprisingly, as according to the map’™s glossary this simply means ‘˜valley’™.The background map has the boundaries and the names of counties (although not quite consistently ‘“ historic counties of Wales and Scotland but present day in England). Accompanying text provides brief notes on the derivation of most British names, plus a glossary.
