Southern England: Cycling Touring Guide
Southern England Cycling Touring Guide, one of the classics of cycling publishing and the inspiration behind the ‘Britain by Bike” television series. Written by Harold Briercliffe and first published in 1950, the guide has been updated to the present day and re-published in 2012. Coverage includes a tour of the Thames Valley and the Cotswolds, a tour of and routes on the Isle of Wight, the New Forest, a tour of the southern counties from Portsmouth to Gravesend, and routes between London and the coast in Hampshire, Sussex and Kent. The guide includes the original routes with charming commentary from Harold Briercliffe and covers both long and short traffic-light and traffic-free routes for today’s cyclists. It is illustrated with black and white photos, lovely drawings and original advertisements, but has no route maps.
