The map covers the western half of Rutherglen, plus the Polmadie area of south Glasgow. Coverage stretches from Hampden Park eastward to Queen Street Rutherglen. Features include the western part of Rutherglen Main Street, tramways, Cathcart Street, Burnside Factory, Govan Colliery Pits 5 and 6, Blackfaulds, Shawfield Brick Works, Polmadie Mineral Depot, engine shed, Aikenhead Road, Govan Colliery Depot, Aikenhead Colliery Pits 1 and 2, Hangingshaw, Hampden Park football ground, White`s soap works, etc. On the reverse is a Rutherglen directory, entries A to M.About the Alan Godfrey Editions of the 25″ OS Series:Selected towns in Great Britain and Ireland are covered by maps showing the extent of urban development in the last decades of the 19th and early 20th century. The plans have been taken from the Ordnance Survey mapping and reprinted at about 15 inches to one mile (1:4,340). On the reverse most maps have historical notes and many also include extracts from contemporary directories.
