Peru: IGN Departmental Maps

Peruโ€™s administrative departments on maps published by the countryโ€™s national survey organization, Instituto Geogrรกfico Nacional, showing their administrative subdivisions, topography, road and rail networks, etc.As all the titles are printed on the same size sheets, their scales vary considerably given greatly different sizes of the departments. The topography of each department is shown by bright altitude colouring with spot heights. Most maps also indicate cultivated areas. Railways and four different types of roads and dirt tracks are shown, as well as local airports and aerodromes. The maps also show subdivisions of the departments into provinces and districts, indicating administrative capital of each unit. Most sheets also include a panel with general information about the state (e.g. population distribution, climate, etc.). Each map shows one department only and no detail of any kind is given for the adjacent departments beyond their names.Latitude and longitude lines are drawn at 1ยบ intervals, making this series very useful for identifying correct map references for small settlements or geographical features on Peruโ€™s 1:100,000 topographic survey, where each map cover 30โ€™ of latutide and longitude.Map legend is in Spanish only. Publication dates vary from mid-1980s to mid-1990s, with a handful of titles revised later.
