North Island – New Zealand Hema
New Zealand’s North Island at 1:1,000,000 on an indexed road map from Hema with on the reverse panels with street plans and more detailed maps of the island’s main cities, plus maps of the Tongariro and Te Urewera National Parks.On one side is a road map of the North Island at 1:1,000,000. The road network shows motorways, plus state highways and major or minor roads differentiating between sealed and unsealed surfaces. The map also highlights the islands’ sightseeing tourist routes: the Twin Coast and Forgotten World, the Thermal Explorer and Pacific Coast, Surf Highway 45, and the Classic New Zealand Wine Trail. Railway lines are included and selected hiking trails are also marked. Symbols mark various places of interest, information centres and skiing areas. Topography is shown by subtle relief shading with names of mountain ranges. National Parks and other protected areas are prominently highlighted. Latitude and longitude lines are drawn at intervals of 30’. The index is next to the map and is accompanied by a distance table. On the reverse are detailed street plans of city centres (the CBDs) of Auckland, Wellington, Hamilton, Gisborne, New Plymouth, Taupo, Palmerston North, Rotorua, Tauranga, Russell, Paihia, Napier, Kerikeri, and Whangarei, plus road maps showing in greater detail the suburbs of Auckland (both north and south of the city centre) and Wellington. Also provided are detailed maps of two national parks: Te Urewera and Tongariro, both showing numerous peak heights, camping sites and other facilities or places of interest.
