Grand Canyon National Park East AZ
Grand Canyon East, one of two maps from the National Geographic Society at 1:90,000 approx. providing coverage of the entire Grand Canyon. Printed on light, waterproof and tear-resistant plastic paper, the maps are double-sided and provided an exceptionally vivid picture of the area. Topography is shown by contours at 100 feet intervals enhanced by bold relief shading and altitude colouring. The maps show roads classified into paved, improved, high clearance, 4WD drive only, and administrative, as well as numbered hiking/biking/horse/motorized use paths plus unmaintained trails. Along the Colorado River mileage markers are placed. A range of symbols indicates various facilities including campgrounds and campsites, viewpoints, etc. The maps also show various boundaries, including the National Park itself, the no flight zone, etc, as well as backcountry use areas, colour-coded into Corridor, Threshold, Primitive and Wild according to the degree of experience required and camping restrictions. Each map has a UTM grid for GPS users and includes other tourist tips, permit information, contact addresses, etc. Coverage on this map includes Marble Canyon and Horseshoe Mesa, Kaibab Plateau, and Vermillion Cliffs National Monument.* The maps are part of NGS’s extensive series of recreational maps covering national parks and other protected area of USA.
