France IGN Geological Map 904
France: Geological Curiosities Map from the IGN combines a road map highlighting numerous sites of special geological interest with, on the reverse, a geological map from the BRGM, the country’s geological survey organization. On one side a road map of the country is overprinted with symbols highlighting places of special geological interest: geological reserves, volcanoes, caves, canyons, quarries and mines, mineral and fossil sites, geological museums, etc., accessible or open to the general public. Map legend for this side includes English. On the reverse, the same road map is used as a base for a geological map of France prepared by the BRGM, the country’s geological survey organization. Various insets show magnetism and gravity on French soil, and the distribution of metamorphic, sedimentary and igneous deposits. Map legend and all the explanatory notes are in French only. The two maps have as their base IGN’s general road map of France highlighting the country’s motorway network and connecting routes, but also showing many of the local D-roads, all with their numbers. Current edition of this map was prepared in 2004, so not all road information is up to date. This title is one of several thematic tourist maps published by the IGN with their general road map of France as a base and aiming to present the country’s cultural and historical heritage, opportunities for outdoor pursuits, etc. To see the list of currently available titles please click on the series link.
