Walking the Corbetts Volume 1: South of the Great Glen guide from Cicerone Press describes in 95 routes the most interesting ascents of the 112 peaks south of the Fort William – Loch Ness – Inverness line, including the Southern Highlands, Southern Uplands and the islands of Jura and Arran.The Corbetts are Scottish mountains between 2500 and 2999 feet (609 – 914 metres approx) high, less visited but in most cases more accessible than the more popular Munros and frequently offer better walking and views when the higher peaks are shrouded in cloud. The guide is divided into 11 sections, each walkable in two weeks, presented on overview road maps indicating locations of individual routes.Detailed descriptions of the routes are accompanied by specially prepared contoured maps at 1:100,000 and information panels with OS grid coordinates for the starting point, distance and ascent, grading, access, map numbers for the OS 1:50,000 Landranger series, etc. The guide includes and introductory section with notes on geology, environments, weather, etc, plus appendices with an alphabetical list of the Corbetts and useful contact addresses.
