Confraternity of Saint James Pilgrim Guides

Pocket guides to various pilgrim routes to Santiago de Compostela published by the London-based Confraternity of St James. Researched by the members of the Confraternity and updated to incorporate feedback from the users, the guides were originally published in the absence of other English language publications and still provide much useful information. Unless indicated to the contrary in the individual description, each guide provides state-by-stage notes about the route, descriptions of places of interest and advice on accommodation. Apart form a general outline of the route the guides do not include any more detailed maps. The Confraternity of St James is a non-denominational registered charity founded in 1983 to promote the pilgrim routes to Santiago de Compostela and to foster research about them in Britain. In addition to publishing pocket guides to the routes it also runs two refuges for pilgrims (at Rabanal del Camino on the Camino Francรฉs and Miraz on the Camino del Norte) as well as provides assistance to elderly, frail or disable people who might otherwise be unable to undertake the pilgrimage.
