Barnsley South East in 1904 in a fascinating series of reproductions of old Ordnance Survey plans in the Alan Godfrey Editions, ideal for anyone interested in the history of their neighbourhood or family. The map covers the south-eastern quarter of Barnsley, extending eastward to Hunningley. The Barnsley portion includes Beevor Hall, Barnsley Cemetery, Cemetery Road, Sheffield Road, Brinckman Street, Mount Osborne, Measborough Dike, Barnsley West Junction, the east part of Worsborough Common, Pinder Oaks. Mount Vernon is in the south-western corner. Several railways cross the map: the Midland Railway`s Cudworth & Barnsley and Chapeltown Branch Extension lines, and a stretch of the Stairfoot & Cudworth line; the GCR Barnsley to Barnetby line, with Quarry Junction, Oaks Colliery Sidings, Old Oaks Colliery. At Hunningley are Hope Glass Works, Stairfoot Bridge, Park House, Birk House. Kendray Hospital is in the centre of the map; Ardsley Cemetery is near the south-eastern corner.
