Alps – 100 Hut Walks

100 Hut Walks in the Alps is experienced walker Kev Reynolds’™ Cicerone guide to a selection of walks following the chain of mountain huts that are strung out across the Alps. The guide covers a selection of Alpine walks in France, Switzerland, Italy, Austria and Slovenia and the huts range from unmanned bivouac shelters to bustling mountain inns with hot showers and restaurant service. The walks selected by the author (full-day and multi-day walks) are suitable for walkers of all abilities and there is a range of hut-to-hut tours that are ideal for planned walking tours.The guide is structured geographically by country in five main parts, with the majority of walks being in the French and Swiss Alps. A detailed introduction provides practical information on mountain huts, walking in the Alps, safety in the mountains, the Alpine environment and recommended maps and guides. Each walk begins with a general outline of the route as well as important information on the valley base, starting point, total time and distance, ascent and the relevant map. Detailed route descriptions are accompanied by sketch diagrams mapping the route in addition to colour photographs illustrating some of the highlights of the Alpine landscapes.
