Autour du Bassin d`Arcachon ร pied
Autour du Bassin d`Arcachon ร pied, FFRP topoguide Ref. no. P331, with six local walks of varying length and difficulty, plus an 85km route around the basin. Each walk is presented on a separate colour extract from IGN’s topographic survey of France at 1:25,000, with its description cross-referenced to the map. Current edition of this title was published in April 2019.Dominated by the imposing mass of the Pilat dune, the Bassin d`Arcachon is a true small inland sea subject to the tides. The constant confrontation between ocean, wind, sand, fresh water and salt water has created a world apart that benefits from a particular microclimate. These remarkable conditions have allowed the establishment of a diverse flora and fauna, including some 300 species of breeding or migratory birds. The development of the Basin is due above all to the fashion of bathing in the nineteenth century that will make the villas of Arcachon a prestigious destination. To see the list of other FFRP guides with day walks please click on the series link.ABOUT THE FFRP (Fรฉdรฉration franรงaise de la randonnรฉe pรฉdestre) TOPOGUIDES: published in a handy A5 paperback format, the guides are the best companions for hiking in France.
