South East Wiltshire 1892

South East Wiltshire in 1892 in a series of reproductions of Ordnance Survey’™s famous “Inch to the Mile” maps published in the Alan Godfrey Editions to provide a historical record of England and Wales in the second half of 19th and early 20th century.The map covers the area west and north of Salisbury, showing the villages along the Ebble, Nadder, Wylye, Avon and Bourne valleys. Coverage stretches from Tisbury eastward to Winterslow, and from Amesbury and Stonehenge southward to Ebbesborne Wake. Many earthworks and other relics of antiquity are marked on the Downs, including Old Sarum, Figsbury Ring, Stonehenge and Bilbury Rings. Other locations covered include Alderbury, Allington, Alvediston, Barford St Martin, Baverstock, Berwick St James, Bishopstone, Boyton, Britford, Broad Chalke, Burcombe, Chilmark, Cholderton, Codford St Mary, Codford St Peter, Compton Chamberlayne, Coombe Bissett, Dinton, Durnford, East Boscombe, Fifield Bavant, Fisherton de la Mere, Fovant, Fugglestone St Peter, Great Wishford, Hornington, Idmiston, Laverstock, Little Langford, Netherhampton, Newton Tony, Odstock, Sherrington, South Newton, Stapleford, Steeple Langford, Stockton, Stratford sub Castle, Stratford Tony, Sutton Mandeville, Swallowcliffe, Teffont Evias, Teffont Magna, Upton Lovell, West Grimstead, West Harnham, Wilsford, Wilton, Winterbourne Dauntsey, Winterbourne Earls, Winterbourne Gunner, Winterbourne Stoke, Woodford and Wylye.
