Batura Glacier
Batura Glacier in the Karakoram on a detailed, contoured topographic map at 1:60,000 published by the Chinese Institute of Glaciology in 1978. Place names and the map legend include English. The map has contours at 20m intervals, enhanced by shading, plus graphics and/or colouring for exposed rock, scree, moraine, crevasses, vegetation, etc. Place names are given in both Chinese and Latin alphabet, with English language used where appropriate (‘first ice flow”, etc.). The map has no geographical coordinates.A large inset shows ‘The Terminal Changes of the Batura Glacier and its Relation to the Karakoram Highway and Bridges”.Please note: although printed on a large, 104 x 78cm sheet, the actual map is only 92 x 46cm.
