Victoria ‘“ The High Country Atlas and Guide: an A4, spiral-bound guide and atlas from Hema, with an illustrated guide to the region and its main attractions, an indexed road atlas, advice on planning road trips, etc.The opening chapter section provides background information on the region’s history, fauna and flora, etc. Chapter 2 covers planning the trip, including a ‘Where to stay” section with lists of supply centres and ski resorts. This is followed by a ‘Things to do” section listing various recreational pursuits and providing information on organized tours and guiding services. The region’s three main attractions: the Great Alpine Road, Alpine National Park, plus Snowy River and Baw Baw National Park are each given a separate chapter. 25 top 4WD trips in the High Country and Central and East Gippsland are highlighted on detailed map extracts, accompanied by a description of the route and information on facilities including campsites. The last part of this title provides a detailed road atlas of the whole area, with contoured mapping and locations annotated to show what services can be found there.
