South Island – New Zealand Hema
New Zealand’s South Island at 1:1,000,000 on an indexed road map from Hema prominently highlighting its protected areas, with on the reverse seven street plans, suburbs maps including Christchurch and Dunedin, plus more detailed enlargements of maps of four national parks.On one side is a road map of the South Island at 1:1,000,000. Road network shows motorways, plus state highways and major or minor roads, differentiating between sealed and unsealed surfaces. The map also highlights the islands’ five sightseeing tourist routes: the Alpine Pacific, Inland Scenic 72 Route, Southern Scenic, Classic NZ Wine Trail and Great Alpine Highway. Railway lines are included and selected hiking trails is also marked. Symbols mark various places of interest, information centres and skiing areas. Topography is shown by subtle relief shading with names of mountain ranges. National Parks and other protected areas are prominently highlighted. Latitude and longitude lines are drawn at intervals of 30’. The map is indexed and is accompanied by a distance table. On the reverse are street plans of city centres (the CBDs) of Christchurch, Dunedin, Picton, Nelson, Queenstown, Blenheim and Invercargill, plus road maps of the suburbs of Christchurch and Dunedin. Also provided are detailed maps of four national parks: Aoraki/Mt Cook with Westland/Tai Poutini, Fiordland, Kahurangi, and Arthur’s Pass, all showing numerous peak heights, camping sites and other facilities or places of interest.
