Russia and the Neighbouring Countries Jana Seta Road Map

Russia on a double-sided map from Jana Seta combining coverage of the whole country at 1:8,000,000 with more detailed mapping at 1:2,000,000 of its western part. Extensive index is in a separate booklet attached on the map cover.On one side is a lovely clear map at 1:8,000,000 with its projection providing coverage from London to the Bering Straight. The map covers not only Russia but also all the ex-Soviet Union counties, the whole of Scandinavia, Poland, Mongolia, the Koreas and Japan, plus northern China with Beijing and much of Iran. The map extends to the North Pole, so covers all the Russian island groups within the Arctic Ocean as well as Svalbard/Spitsbergen. Countries are presented in different colours, with their names in English. Within Russia the map shows internal administrative boundaries with names of administrative units: oblast’™, republic, okrug or krai. A large number of towns are marked, with names given only in Latin alphabet. The map shows principal road and rail connections, including the whole of the Trans-Siberian route to Vladivostok and its spurs north and southwards. Local airports are indicated, including those in the north-eastern parts of Siberia.The underlying base has subtle relief shading with graphics for marshlands. Large number of tributaries of Russia’™s main rivers are named. Perhaps disappointingly, there is no similar information about mountain chains and the subtle relief shading makes the Urals almost disappear! Latitude and longitude lines are drawn at intervals of 5ยฐ. The index is in a separate booklet attached to the map cover. Map legend includes English.Below the map is a colourful panel of flags of Russia administrative units, Moscow and St. Petersburg, plus the ex-Soviet Union countries. On the reverse the western part of Russia is shown in greater detail at 1:2,000,000 with the map extending east beyond Nizhny Novgorod and to Volgograd (Stalingrad), plus north just beyond Petrozavodsk to show most of Lake Onega. Coverage here includes all the European ex-Soviet Union countries except those in the Caucasus.* The 1:8m side of this map is also available as a wallmap
