National Geographic Society’s Indian Country Wall Map of the United States presenting individual states annotated with information showing Native heritage and today’s homelands, plus historical maps and photos of well know Indian Americans.The main map shows the country’s division into states, with main towns also marked. General geography of the country is shown by relief shading and larger rivers. Each state is annotated with its current population of Native Americans, and shows population levels in selected main cities. American Indian Reservations are highlighted and the map also shows other federally or state recognized tribal entities, cultural centres and major festival locations, tribal colleges or universities, Indian Health Service centres, etc. A panel of four historical maps charts the decline in Native American population and lands between 1775 and 2004. Above the map are photos and brief biographies of 16 well known American Indians.
