Clear, well presented cartography has altitude colouring, spot heights, and graphics to indicate wet and dry rann marshlands. Road network includes local tracks and gives driving distances on main and secondary routes. Railway lines are shown with stations and indicate narrow gauge sections. The maps also show local administrative divisions with names of districts, indicating state, district and tahsil/taluk headquarters.A range of symbols highlight places of tourist interest, including national parks and wildlife sanctuaries, religious buildings of various denominations, historic monuments, caves, camping grounds, etc. The maps have no geographical coordinates.The atlas provides street plans of the country’s 17 main cities. The plans show names of main streets, plus various districts and neighbourhoods, and highlight places of interest, accommodations, etc. Also provided are 14 plans of India’s main tourist attractions, including the Agra Fort, Ajanta Caves, Old Goa, the route of the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, etc. The atlas has an extensive index, colour-coded to indicate, in additions to towns and villages, monuments and places of worship, national parks and wildlife sanctuaries, beaches, rivers and lakes, mountain ranges and other physical features, etc. Also included is a distance table, diagrams of main sightseeing routes (e.g. Mumbai to Goa or the Ajanta Caves, Kolkata to Darjeeling, etc.), plus a list of the proposed National Highways numbers.
