Great Britain: Ordnance Survey Off-Road Cycle Trails

A new series of off-road cycling sets from the Ordnance Survey, begun in summer 2014 with coverage of their home county of Hampshire. Each set consists of a number of handy-size, 30x21cm map extracts from the OS Landranger series overprinted with a recommended route and presented at either the original 1:50,000 or enlarged to 1:33,333.Various points along the route are cross-referenced to instructions on the reverse side which also give the coordinates of the British National Grid. Where useful, e.g. in the built up areas, additional enlargements panels provide greater clarity. The accompanying route profile, usually graded in steps of 20 or 25 metres, gives an excellent picture of the change in altitude. In addition to highlighting the course of the recommended route the mapping carries all the information shown in the original Landranger series, including on-road and traffic free cycle routes, public footpaths, car parks and pubs, etc, and has the lines of the British National grid at 1km intervals. Each set is designed to include routes of varying lengths and grade.
