Turkey Marco Polo Map

Turkey at 1:800,000 on a large, double-sided map from Marco Polo Travel Publishing with special features to aid route planning and navigation, street plans of town centres in seven cities, an extensive index in a separate booklet, etc.A fold-out extension of the map cover gives at-a-glance overview of the whole area covered by the map with the adjoining regions, highlighting main places of interest and making it much easier to find various localities on the main map and/or plan a route. A set of seven peel-on/peel-off stickers, removable without damaging the map, is provided to make routes or locations more prominent when navigating.The map divides the country east/west along the eastern edge of the Mediterranean, with a generous overlap between the two sides. Cartography is from the renowned German publishers MairDumont. Road network includes selected minor local roads and cart tracks, and shows intermediate driving distances on many secondary routes. Many useful additional details are included e.g. motorway filling stations, truck stops, toll stations, pass closures, caravan and vehicle restrictions, gradients, scenic and tourist routes, border crossings. Railways lines, tourist transport in mountainous areas, airports and local airfields, and car ferries are marked. Locations and objects of interest are highlighted and symbols show numerous landmarks places of interest, e.g. campsites, youth hostels, mosques and churches, palaces, beaches, scenic views, etc. The map also shows internal administrative boundaries and indicates restricted entry areas.Topography is shown by relief shading, with names of mountain ranges and peaks, plus extra spot heights. Additional graphics show features such as salt flats, marshes, etc. National parks and other protected areas are highlighted. The map has latitude and longitude grid at intervals of 30’™. Multilingual map legend includes English. The index is in a separate 64-page booklet attached to the map cover.The map is surrounded by insets showing city centres in Turkey’™s six main towns, Istanbul, Ankara, Antalya, Izmir, Adana, Kayseri and Trabzon, each placed on the relevant side of the map. Also provided is a map showing driving distances across the whole country and information on main driving regulations.
