Boothstown and Astley Green in 1904 in a fascinating series of reproductions of old Ordnance Survey plans in the Alan Godfrey Editions, ideal for anyone interested in the history of their neighbourhood or family. The map is double-sided; the main map covers the village of Boothstown, extending westward to Astley West End. Features include St Stephens church, West End, Cross Hillock, Garrett Hall, Chaddock Hall, Parr Bridge, St John`s church, Common Side, Mill Brow, Garden Cotton Mill, New Cotton Mill, Stirrup Bridge, Chaddock Row, etc. A colliery railway crosses the map. On the reverse is a section of the adjacent sheet 103.05 extending coverage south to include Astley Green, Lower Green, Astley Cotton Mills, Bridgewater Canal and Vicars Hall Farm.About the Alan Godfrey Editions of the 25″ OS Series:Selected towns in Great Britain and Ireland are covered by maps showing the extent of urban development in the last decades of the 19th and early 20th century.
